Gliding St Patricks Weekend 2025
Our first fly in of the year was held over the Saint Patricks weekend at the Nine Stones which are in the hills of Carlow, Waterford and Wexford. With 15 pilots in attendance the first day got off to a great start. A good breeze from the NE provided plenty of lift on the slope near the carpark. Peter Haughton from Dublin was first in the air with a RES(Rudder Elevator and Spoiler) style model, followed by Joe Spaine . We had flyers from all over the country with 2 gentlemen showing up with an unfinished model looking for assistance which was offered by all present to see them have their model maidened by myself.Sunday presented slightly more challenging conditions as the winds moved easterly and provided less lift than on the Saturday. again, plenty of flying was had by all with a selection of models ranging from electric assisted gliders to full house aerobatic gliders like the Ahi.
Flying ceased around 15.30 with all having had a great weekend.
