IMAC Laois 12 April 2015

IMAC Laois Club 12 April 2015 - by Brian Foran, IMAC Secretary

Another very successful IMAC Competition this time at LMAC Portlaoise, 10 competitors turned up for the 9:30am pilot brief despite the very inclement weather conditions, luckily for all concerned the weather gods played ball and after registration by Martin Sweeney the first flight got underway at 11:20, John Price from the Laois club opened the competition with a very solid round of two schedules, in front of growing numbers of spectators the scene was set for a very enjoyable day for all concerned.

Such was the interest in the IMAC discipline We were able to run five different classes : Basic, Sportsman , Intermediate , Advanced , & Unlimited, little did I think in 2011 setting out on an IMAC Journey for the South of Ireland that we could be fielding such classes at this early stage, its very heartening to see pilots turning up from all over the country to compete and even more heartening to welcome pilots from Armagh and Toombridge in Northern Ireland, Harry Reid, and Steve Tait along with his dad Robert arrived for this competition on the Saturday and they made a weekend of it, along with competing Harry and Steve helped out with Judging duties also.

By dinner time on competition day we had one full round completed and it was time for a well earned break, LMAC has some of the best facilities in the country for days like this and it was no problem dish out the chicken curry and rice to all concerned in very comfortable surroundings, thanks to Fergus O'Reilly ,Martin Sweeney & Dermot Gannon for looking after the indoor duties.

So after dinner we had the group photo ,then we commenced round 2 everyone at this stage was more relaxed and the weather kept improving the crosswind was abating all the time so conditions got very favourable and everyone posted solid results (attached).

As I write this a group of Irish IMAC pilots are looking forward to the next completion in Castle Kennedy in Scotland at the end of April then on to the Northern Ireland round of competitions so lots happening on the IMAC Scene.

Sincere thanks to everyone who made the effort to make this event another very successful IMAC day also thanks to LMAC for the use of the facilities and Model Heli Serviced for their sponsorship.
